Hair Raising!

I had booked Stacy Pitt on the spot during my first trial after seeing how quickly and expertly she worked. We decided to have a second trial closer to the date of the wedding when my hair would be at the length it would on the day of and we could select a few styles to go with my dress changes.

Since we have Stacy for the full day, we were brainstorming styles that would allow for changes throughout the day without additional setting. I showed Stacy some photos (which are a mix of vintage, classic, romantic, and clean looks) and we got to work.

Look #1: Tea Ceremony/Traditional Chinese Qipao

I loved the idea of a down look, but knew that I would not be able to do it for more than an hour or two because of the heat. But Stacy had an even better plan: to wear the down look in the morning for the tea ceremony (where everything is happening indoors) and then put it up before I don the wedding gown.

Here's Stacy's interpretation:
On the day of, the curls would be tighter because the would have a chance to set longer and would look like the left side of the photo versus stringy on the right.

Looser curls.

Tighter curls and more sculpting.

With my hair clips from TopsyTurvy Designs in place. I think this look will go really well with my tea ceremony qipao!

Look #2: Wedding Gown/Reception Qipao

I definitely wanted my hair up because we will be taking pictures outdoors, but also wanted something that would complement my beautiful Lynn Kiracofe clip and birdcage veil-- a more vintage yet simple look.

My birdcage veil and a look from my first trial.

My Lynn Kiracofe hair piece in it's original state. Now it's in antique gold and has been transformed into a clip (more on that later!)

Here's how it looked on me:

The front. This will be more defined and sculpted on the wedding day. Since we didn't set my hair with the proper amount of time, it wasn't holding as well.

The back. I liked how clean yet textured it looked.

The side with my bird. We will adjust it more on the day of to sit better with the veil placement.

I still heart my birdcage veil. :)

Look #3: Get Down and Party!

I didn't have any inspiration photos for my final look, but I told Stacy that I wanted to be comfortable and COOL... something along the lines of a Gwen Stefani ponytail. So this is what she came up with.

I love the look and I can totally rock my Alexis Bittar earrings!

The side. Upswept yet not too messy.

The back. Off my neck and totally dance-proof.
I am really excited about this look!

I couldn't be happier with all the looks and for hiring Stacy months in advance. She is a true professional and super talented. For any of you still looking for a stylist in New York, contact Stacy through her online form, though I know she's pretty booked for the year... never hurts to try!

Did any of you have a final trial just to do a run through of your wedding day look?
